About:
Southland's outpatient addiction program was established in October of 2020 in response to the growing need for outpatient addiction treatment services in northern Mississippi. We envisioned a facility founded upon trust, respect, and mutual collaboration. Our approach to addiction treatment relies on research driven practices such as suboxone treatment and psychotherapy.
Physical Location
Our treatment center located in a discrete low traffic area just moments away from I-55 near Stateline Road and Airways Boulevard. The area has its own private entrance, parking lot, and is handicapped accessible. Please refer to the images on the left for an outside view or the map below for geographic location.
Treatment Environment
Our current clients describe us as having a 'mom and pop' oriented atmosphere. We strive to build a treatment environment that promotes healing and recovery, and that involves you feeling comfortable being yourself. There is no need to dress up and family members are always welcome (However, offensive apparel will not be tolerated).
What sets us apart:
Above all else we pride ourselves on flexibility and consumer satisfaction. You won't find long lines, busy waiting rooms, or automated answering services here. We know recovery isn't easy, but we do our best to make your experience here is as comfortable as possible.
About the staff:
Susan Mokhtari, MD
Dr. Susan Mokhtari, MD is a board certified anesthesiologist currently practicing in the tristate area. Dr. Mokhtari graduated from University of Tennessee College of Medicine medical school in 1994 and now has over 27 years of medical experience. Dr. Mokhtari began her career as an addiction specialist in 2014 as a way of helping people outside of the operating room. Since then, she has served as the medical director of three individual facilities specializing in addiction recovery. In October of 2020, Dr. Mokhtari founded her own clinic in Southaven, MS – Southland Recovery, PLLC.
Joshua Kaplan, MA, CADC-II
Joshua graduated from the University of Memphis in 2018 with a Masters of Arts and Liberal Studies focused on Drug Abuse and Alcohol Services. Joshua began working in the substance abuse field in 2015 after seeing the increasingly negative impact of illicit substance use on his community. Since then, Joshua has functioned in multiple administrative and psychotherapy related positions within the behavioral health field. Currently, Joshua serves as program director and counselor at Southland Recovery, PLLC in Southaven, MS.

We realize that each individual is here by choice and understand that the treatment process should be conducted accordingly.
